ICT for a healthy and ageing population

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) present an enormous potential to enhance independent living and improve the quality of life of elderly and disabled people. ICT solutions can help to facilitate autonomous living, enhance mobility and improve access to social and healthcare services.

In addition, ICT as an enabling technology can provide health care solutions to professionals of the health and medical sectors, facilitating their work considerably and allowing them to dedicate more time to individuals. The successful achievement of such challenges not only represents a social and economic necessity, but also offers opportunities for society, social and healthcare systems as well as for industry.

In order to tackle these social and economic challenges, the Working Group “ICT for a healthy and ageing population” of the Luxembourg ICT Cluster was launched in March 2011, gathering representatives from companies, public research, healthcare and other stakeholders around this common theme in order to exchange know-how and experience and to foster collaborative projects on a national as well as on an international level.
